Jennie Garth worked hard to get the body she has now -- and she's not about to lose it to laziness. Since dropping an estimated 30 pounds, the former Beverly Hills, 90210 star has made health and fitness a priority.
"Maintaining is just about consistency now," the actress, 40, told Us Weekly at ELLE's Women in Hollywood event in Beverly Hills October 15. "Being so happy and feeling so good about the way I feel and the way I look, I don't want to lose that, so it's about penciling me in every day to my life."
Garth means that literally. To help keep track of her kids' schedules, she jots down appointments in a color-coded calendar. Each color represents a different member of the family.
"Everyone has a color," the slimmed-down star explained. "I have a color now, and it's about my fitness and my well-being."
Finding time in her busy schedule isn't easy, though. Separated from hus band Peter Facinelli since March, Garth has her hands full with three daughters -- Luca, 15, Lola, 9, and Fiona 5 -- and is developing a new sitcom with her former Beverly Hills, 90210 love interest, Luke Perry, 45. But making time for herself is a must.
"You just do it. It's part of your day," she said. "I really encourage women to do that and to look at their day and try to fit in an hour a day somewhere just for themselves."
For Garth, that hour often includes exercise. In addition to outdoor activities like running, hiking, and riding her horse, the 5-foot-5 actress works out three times a week at local gym Cold Iron Barbell. She also maintains a healthy diet.
"I'm just taking care of myself: Eating less, exercising more, drinking a lot of coconut water," she revealed to Us at an event in August. "I eat a lot of Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt in the morning, salads and proteins the rest of t he day, and maybe a cupcake if I've been a good girl. I don't believe in depriving yourself of things you want."
