PIC: Demi Moore Looks Thin, Radiant at Rare Post-Rehab Appearance in NYC

Demi Moore attends the GEMS Girls Like Us Benefit Gala hosted by Demi Moore And Rachel Lloyd at El Museo Del Barrio on October 17, 2012 in New York City.

Looking good, Demi!

Nearly one year after they announced their split -- following his infamous affair -- Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher's divorce proceedings are dragging on. And Moore, 49, has kept an extremely low-profile for much of 2012 following her January meltdown and subsequent rehab stay.

Little of that stress was apparent on Wednesday night in NYC, when Moore made a rare public appearance at the GEMS Girls Like Us Benefit Gala at El Museo del Barrio.

The Margin Call star looked slim as always, but serene and radiant in a black and nude-toned print cocktail dress that showed off her toned arms and legs. At the event, also attended by star like Arden Wohl, Adepero Oduye, India Arie, Shontelle, Natasha Lyonne, Kevin Geer and Yolonda Ross, Moore took the stage and put on her reading glasses to read an excerpt from "Girls Like Us," a memoir by GEMS' Executive Director Rachel Lloyd a bout her experiences as a sexually exploited girl.

Moore then sat in the audience as ten young women, aged 12-24, shared their experiences about escaping the sex trade industry to acquire educations and establish their careers; Moore smiled and clapped as they shared their stories -- finally hugging each of them when the event was over.

Observers said Moore was "sweet and caring" and "motherly."

As Moore gets her life back on track following her struggles earlier this year, she's "not psyched" about her estranged ex's new romance with That 70s Show costar Mila Kunis, one source told Us Weekly.

"She was always insecure over the course of her marriage," the pal says. "So yeah, it's hurtful that he's with someone he knew the whole time he was with her."
